How expensive is an M1a/ M14?

So if I can get a reciever for let's go with $800 dollars then how much would a krieger stainless steel barrel, mcmillan stock, usgi parts, and someone to put it all together cost? Also- you might as well tell me about anything about your m1a/ m14 series rifles.


I'm looking at the $2,000-$2,500 range without optics.

USGI Parts are hella pricey these days. You are better off buying a used rifle with USGI parts on it or buy a new LRB as they still have a stash. Last I checked a bolt alone will cost you $250 and a trigger assembly will be $250. USGI Op rods are way up there too, though SEI is making new ones. I would think you are looking at at least $3000.

For your price range, you might want to just buy a SAI. You could gradually replace parts with USGI if you wanted to, although there really is no need. The bolts are forged, the op rods are as good as USGI, and the barrels (although not chrome lined) are also good. The only thing is that the receiver is cast, which some folks think is a big deal, but a cast receiver will outlast you if it's cast correctly and properly heat treated, which these are. The only other thing about the SAI receiver is that there is some slight deviation on some of them where the optics mounting groove is located on the left side of the receiver. This might cause minor complications with some mounts, but most folks find a way to overcome.

Maybe not as good but they do make a decent oprod no matter what all the critics say. Though I hear they were using SEI op rods for a while there.

It does the job perfectly fine, I don't know what else one could ask of it. The tab fits perfectly, there's no play, and it's good steel.

Portuguese NATO surplus... the ammo wasn't the problem - it was the reproduction part.
