How has your Glock 36 performed?

Hi gbelleh,
As you know from TFL I have a G36. Of late it has had some jamming problems. The last time I took it out there was 5 jams out of a box of 50!! A 10% failure rate is not acceptable!!
In my case, I believe that the reason is the fact that I replaced the stock slide stop lever with an aftermarket extended part!! I plan to reinstall the stock lever. The gun was perfect until I did this!!!
The G36 is an excellent gun and I would not hesitate to buy one!! Just remember to keep it stock!!

Several hundred rounds later I have had zero problems. It feeds everything I have fed it so far ammo wise and is accurate to boot. I have done a lot of looking around the web and the general concensus is to keep it stock. Every problem I have heard of was from the addition of an aftermarket part of some kind.
Great little carry guns. However, it is a weapon that require a little devotion to shooting it. Your first shot will be on the money just like any .45 Glock. However, your ability to deliver the next six rounds, on the target, would depend on your technique and skill in handling the G36. that will come from PRACTICE.
p.s. Take a look at the Federal 200 grain EFMJ ammo. It is what I use in mine with great results.

My 36 is affected in the Glock non-official recall :banghead: After talking w/ Glock reps, I've decided to just shoot the thing and not worry about it. I've been happy w/ the performance & was pleasantly surprised at how well it shoots for a small 45 acp.

My g36 was not the finest firearm I've owned.
Numerous jams, failures to feed, failure to lock back after last round...
I have several other Glocks, in 9, .357, .40, .45 and they are my favorite semis. Each of these is totally reliable. I like Glocks, I am not a Glock basher. I have total confidence in my Glocks.

My 36 is easily my all time favorite. Smooth handling, very accurate, absolutely reliable any which way anyone shoots it, the slimmest and lightest of the GLOCK line, yet chambered in .45acp. No "frame ridge" at the slide, only GLOCK subcompact that is flush all the way down. Only slimline period. What's not to love? Unless your not ok w/revolver capacities, 6 + 1 is all you need.
But BE WARNED. That my G36 even works is pretty much the statistical equivalent of winning the lottery. Since acquiring, and having put thousands of rounds through it, I've since discovered that mine is by far the exception rather than the rule. Thankfully I have these interwebs, or I'd still be recommending them based on my (anomalous) experience.
I mean, what good is an accurate, reliable, 20oz 7 shot .45acp if they have a bad reputation?

Dredging up history.
My G36 has been with me since 2001. I did fix the problems I had with it. It was the extended slide stop!!
The only other problem was that it did not like wide mouthed Corbons!!

I had some jams early on with mine but it's become a very reliable gun 2500 rounds later.
