What's the highest price you are willing to pay for a magazine?

I'm the type that'll buy 10 or more mags per rifle so I tend to stick with guns that use surplus mags because I don't like to spend more than 15-20 bucks per mag. But that ends up robbing me of cool rifles out their like DPMS 308's who's mags run recently for $60 each!! And PSL's with $30 mags, etc, etc. I mean, not long ago at a gun show I saw some Bulgarian 223 waffle mags for $35 and thought that was ridiculous. Some other vendor was selling them for $25, not THAT bad.....but still.

So what about you?

What's acceptable and what isn't?

It depends on the market. I don't worry about $5 here and there. $25 each is a tolerable amount for me. i am just grateful we can get what we want for the time being.

I think we all better hold on to our hats. I think a new ban is on the horizon so buy your std cap mags now. JMHO As many as you can afford and keep. If nothing else they might be good trade material later.

Until very recently I stayed in the under $25 market, but the frustrations associated with 30 round AR mags lead me to try some HK mags. They're great, but they're also ~$40 a pop. Some guns just don't work with bad mags.

Magazine prices for some guns have gone from ridiculous to completely absurd.
Case in point, mags for my HK USP 45 full size run ~$50.00 a pop! The thing is, they are NOT that awesome of a mag. Sure they work as advertised, but, they don't have materials that are exotic or exorbient in price and cost of manufacture simply cannot justify the huge tariff these mags command. Yet, there it is. :banghead:
Popularity plays a huge roll, as does demand, when it comes to magazine prices. Unless another country unloads their surplus AK 47 mags, I believe we will see a steady rise in price of those magazines too. Whatever the market will bear will dictate mag prices.

Reading Mike's post above reminded me that 10 rounders (all that exists) for my HK USC run $43-60. And his comments about the USP mags apply to the USC mags.

I paid $150 for a drum during the ban, and $60 for a G21 mag, also during the ban.
Now I like to keep it under 10 bucks a mag. $20 is the absolute max. I will spend.

I bought 2 75 round Chinese AK drums during the ban, paid $75.00 each. Now they go for $150.00 each.So I figure I gained $150.00 in value that I can spend on more mags.No such thing as too many.

I bought a 100 round Beta Drum at a gun show last year for $190. That is as much as I would ever consider spending on a mag, and will not do it again. For ARs, and AKs between $20-$25 is the limit on 30 round mags for me. I will have to pass on some of the new expensive mags that Hk and Magpul are comming out with. My $20 Brownells mags, and $13 used Colt mags all run 100% reliable for me.
