I found the only way to use Frankford spray on drop out smoke IS as follows.

On a hot mold, close tightly and spray the insides, Some wil remain on the top of the mold and I just leave it. It can be wiped off with Brake Cleaner on a rag. Open the mold and if any gets outside the holes for casting, clean off and clean you mold. Should not get any if mould in good condiiton.

With my Lee moulds is one sure way of casting bullets that dont need to be put through a lube/sizer. I just apply While lable xlox or Lee Alox.

Works for me . May or may not work for anyone else.

My understanding is that all Lee bullet molds are made of aluminum and lead will not stick to this metal. If so why is there a need to spray lube these dies? Am I missing something?

rcmodel yes have somewhere a gadget i puchased 30 or 40 years ago somewhat like a zippo lighter without a top. Must have used coal oil, just remember would smoke my rifle sights nice and black.
