I had listed the above Mitch Rosen 5JR-EXP (Kahr CW9) for sale with no takers. (I traded my CW9 for a CW45). So,........I decided to try something that every grain of common sense within me said to not do but afterall, what did I have to lose but a little time. First I massaged Kiwi Leather Lotion liberally inside the holster, then began forcing the CW45 into it. In the beginning, it was next to impossible to place more than half the gun inside. But as the leather absorbed some of the lotion, it began to stretch somewhat and I made a little headway. Next I sprayed a liberal amount of Blue Magic Leather Cream Conditioner inside the holster and continued to force the CW45 as far as it would go then remove it, repeating the process until I was tired. I alternated this process for approximately two hours and finally was able to force the CW45 all the way into the holster. I worked another 30 minutes taking the gun out and replacing it back into the holster.

The next step was to cover the gun with a thin cotton hankerchief beginning at the muzzle and then forcing the wrapped gun back into the holster. I left this arrangement in the holster for approximately an hour. I then removed the gun and hankerchief (quite a job), placed the CW45 back into the holster and left it overnight.

The next morning I had a custom fitted Mitch Rosen Holster for my CW45 with only a few hours of work involved. The holster remains very firm (at least for now), the CW45 fits snugly but draws nicely as it should and I have an extra $75.00 to spend on ammo since I didn't have to purchase a new holster. (The inside is now dry to the touch).

The moral of the story?? As long as it isn't life threatening, don't be afraid to swim against the tide and try something that isn't supposed to work. I wrote this 48 hours after beginning the project and am thoroughly satisfied with the end result! And yes I know, the leather may continue to stretch (I certainly hope not) but I'm giving 5:1 odds that it will continue to serve its master quite well!!! And please excuse my usage of the King's English.......I'm a shooter not an orator!

I would have questioned using a softening agent that permeates the leather, but I won't argue with success. :)

Another way to do it might be to use hot water. Don't soak the whole holster in the water, but wrap it with a hot wet towel, as if you were at a Japanese restaurant or getting an old-fashioned shave. ;) As the towel cools off and dries out, keep repeating the process until the gun will go in. After that, let it air dry.

Congratulations. I have to admit I am stunned that your re-fit worked. The 9mm and .45 guns are not real close in size. I had to exert some small effort to get a CW9 to fit a Mitch Rosen Premier made for a K9.
