very nice....i really want to get a winchester 70 but i dont' know what caliber i want to get it in yet.

I began in October 2006, I now have:

10
4 rifles
1 shotgun
2 revolvers
3 Pistols

Nice Collection

I most certainly do not...

The SHR 970 was a birthday present technically from my sister who admitedly is doing well. I dont have the kind of money to buy it...

The 222 Remington Magnum is a used gun.

All the scopes are from auctions
And the CZ isnt an expensive rifle.

The Uberti's are admitedly expensive. Then again other than these I have no other toys what so ever. No jet ski's/car/bike/Humongous TV/ Sound system etc.. etc... I dont even have a basic sound system or an MP3 player. I listen to music on my laptop.

um, something's missing

Where are the Smith & Wesson's?

And for that matter, where are Mosin-Nagants for military surplus shooting? You can get M-N's for less than $100.00 :D

Then you'll need some Mausers, and some more Smith & Wessons, then a Ruger 10-22 or two, and then a Ruger .22 semi-auto, and then a...

Well, you get the idea! :D

The Doc is out now.

I am in France... you cant get nothing for $100

I am getting a Mauser 98K at the end of the month in 8x64S a caliber almost no one in the US has heard of.. for the throw away price of USD 500 :what:
Ammo is a mere $30 (US) for 20 ....

I dont like the Mosin personally.

I do plan on a few hand guns. But thanks to the strict control of hand guns those will only happen in December if the gods smile or sometime next year... even for a .22 lr.

But in the meantime I am waiting on the reloading equipment to be delivered... and I do want to shoot well under 1 MOA with the rifles at 100 meters. And start geting something resembling a group with the Handguns I have at 25 meters.

That will keep me busy...

BTW all "military calibers" i.e. 308/7.62, 8x57, 7.62x39/54, .223 have a 1 year wait at the least. Anything else is pretty much walk in.. show ID/License and walk out with the gun/ammo. France is wierd...
You can buy a BP rifle (muzzle loader) with only the National ID card but need to register a Paintball gun.
I can buy a 416 rigby or a TRG 42 in 338 Lapua on any day, but need to wait a year or more for a .357 lever gun or for that matter a .22 lr pistol. And best of all Silencers are leagal for any caliber. I currently only have one for the .22 LR... but might actually try and get one for the Mauser... :)

DixieTexian,

If the gas, beer and wiskey get too expensive, you should obviously stop driving the car:neener:

Enjoy the others after the shooting is over

no bills to pay, live at home with the rents. Junior standing at University of Houston thanks to the scholarship.

parents say as long as I dont smoke, drink or any kind of illegal drugs. I can buy as much as I want.

Oh yeah, I work part time (6hours/week) at a retail store ($8.5/hour)

They ought to at least put a cap on your spending, it seems. I would buy a bunch of guns and then start collecting empty whiskey bottles. Funny thing is, they don't come empty.

I could have spent the money on my car like turbo, caru audio, shiny rims but I think my guns will hold it's value better than car parts. it's like money in the bank. all I need is a safe and a way to get it in the house.

Looks like you are doing well with the collection!

I would also recommend a Mosin Nagant rifle, especially an M44 or M38- They are a hoot!

It is my personal philosophy that every dollar that I spend on guns- I still have. These are an investment and the money never really leaves you. You can recoup every dollar back (and likely more!) if you have to sell them.

That is what I tell my wife, anyway :D

Enjoy!
John

The 7.62x54R is tightly regulated in Europe.

Am getting a Mauser 98K chambered for the wierd 8x64S instead...

You say his possible to d'obtenir military gauges in France. Of which type shoots you you are limited to? A AR15 or a AK47 would be correct? What would you say of full automatics? I n'ai no index as for the laws in France puisqu'il is completely strange like you say.

Also add one more to my 6 month old collection. Just bought a Kimber custom II for $700. Can't start DROS until the 9th and will get to shoot on the 19th.

Afy, your collection is looking good! Where do you put the percussion cap on those rifles though, and what's that giant black thing on top? :neener:

It is possible to get military calibers, and semi automatic AK-47 type weapons in France. However you need the equivalent of the county or State permission.

These are classified as Cat 1 and Cat 4 guns. Cat 4 are typically handguns, i.e. anything other than say 9 MM, 38, etc used by military/police. And AK type weapons chambered for a non military caliber. An example would be a Dragunov chambered for Savage 300 rather than 7.62x54R.

Category 1 weapons are military caliber... so your 9MM Glocks, AK's in 7.62x39, 30-06, 308 et al.

You can buy fully automatic weapons in France. However you need authorisation from the "Interior Ministry".

Authorisations for Cat 4 and Cat 1 weapons take anywhere from 2 months to a year or more.

The weapons in Cat 1 are cheaper, ammo is cheaper as a rule when compared to the easy access Cat 5 weapons. But there is a lot more papwerwork et al.

Also you need to go to a range, which records your usage of these arms at least 16 times a year. Else you loose your license...
