How is this finish done? Can it be done to a SS Slide?

Im not sure, but I think that is a Damascus slide. I don't know of anything that could make your SS slide look like that since that is actually part of the metal.

Again... not sure if that is damascus or not, but it sure looks like it.

That is Damascus. It was used in swords and knives as a way to make a high quality steel by hand. Gun makers used the method a little more than 100 years ago to make barrels, usually for a shotgun, by wrapping a strip of steel in a spiral and forging the seams together.

Now the raw material is usually created by machine. It comes in different patterns and is pretty expensive. I think they have come up with some finishes to try and replicate it but all I've seen are poor imitations.

By the way, those grips are incredible.

That is definitely an amazing gun. I don't care for the rail, but the slide and grips....mmmmmmm.....

It appears Caspian is the source for these slides.....$730

I'll take one like this, please:

Would love to but i don't have the patience. What a cool looking piece though.

It is possible to make/apply/or whatever a false damacus finish. The United Knife company used to sell hunting knives with the false finish. Was very hard to tell from the real thing BTW.

What a ridiculous gun.

The slide is classy, but it absolutely does not match with the matte, railed frame.

That's like wearing a Caroline Herrera coat with a pair of Levi jeans

I think it's pretty hot. Damascus is beautiful stuff. If you don't want to pay the money for the Damascus you can do the following:
Polish the slide in it's entirety.
Mask areas with heavy sand blast tape (thick tape used to mask stuff in sandblast cabinets) to give you the pattern you are looking for.
Sandblast the slide.
With a syringe apply an acid solution to the blasted areas after removing the tape. The acid will cling to the roughed up areas.
Then rinse the slide to neutralize the acid.

Umm. Who is Caroline Herrera... And why do you know that? LOL

If I am not mistaken this is dasasteel. Modern stainless steel made to have the patterns of ancient damascus steel.
