How long before a Mossberg 500A mag spring needs changing?

How long before the mossberg 500A extended magazine spring needs changing?

It is my HD shotgun, but it concerns me because I'm actually wearing parts out on some of my other guns now over the last 5 years or so.

I would think when your shotgun has a failure to feed problem it would be time to replace the spring. I own another shotgun that was manufacture in the 1960s (4+1) with the original spring (it look like it) and it still works fine.
