How long does a Serial Number stay on the Stolen Gun list?

A friend of mine recently had a pistol stolen out of his glovebox. The theft was reported to the appropriate law enforcement agencies, who said that they would add the serial number to the Stolen Gun list they circulate to pawn shops and dealers.

My friend's question is: How long does a serial number remain on this list. If his gun doesn't show up at a pawn shop in the next six weeks or so, how long can he realistically expect FFLs to watch for it?

If it's placed onto NCIC (National) forever, until the originating agency removes it.

State agencies vary, in GA it too will stay in cyberspace forever, until it is removed.

As for your hot list, this is stricly a department thing and will vary with the price of tea in China.
