I've only been interested in getting a Saiga .308 for a few weeks, they're unavailable anywhere.

Post three is correct. Saigas are a boom and bust proposition. They come in and are everywhere and prices drop. Then supply slowly dries up before the next shipment comes in and the prices climb up to son pretty silly figures. Then the next shipment comes in and the whole cycle repeats.

saiga . 308s are nice but be prepared to convert it as the stock trigger is the absolute worst trigger ive ever seen... be forwarned Russian steel is some tough stuff... use a corded dremel not battery powered and the bolt carriers are a bugger to put back in everything has to be perfectly lined up and then some... but they are a blast to shoot... what else will let you shoot 24 rounds of .308 in an AK platform? good luck.

There are a few listed on Gunbroker. Prices seemed to hover around $800-$1000 at the moment. Most of the ones I saw were still unconverted though.

I bought my 7.62x39 the last week of December in 2012 (at a non-panic price!). It was the last one I've seen for sale anywhere (aside from Gunjoker).

Word is that another shipment will be coming this summer. But don't hold your breathe for $300-400 price tags this time around.

As Johnny says, the stock triggers are just about the worst triggers you'll find on anything claiming to be "modern" in any definition of the term.

If you're lucky, you'll get a receiver with all the holes pre-cut (Trigger popping out through the pistol grip hole, and the stock trigger hole covered with a plate) and all you'll have to do is remove some spot-welds. Mine shoots like a dream.

Just an FYI, last I checked Classic Arms had a couple .308 veprs in stock. With those you don't even need to convert 'em.
