I was wondering if anyone could point me to the following information.

How many "Assault Weapons" (semi-auto military clones) were in this country before the AWB and how many were sold during the AWB?

Respectfully,

The ever changing definition of assault weapon means that your question is unanswerable.

All our guns are assault weapons.

Still, if someone has a link to production numbers of "Assault Weapons" (semi-auto military clones) before and during the AWB I appreciate your help.

WOW. Between '94 and '95 Barrett's sales more than tripled and they weren't even affected by the ban.

looking at all those increases, I'm surprised gun manufacturers haven't been pushing for an ban with a 2 year sunset

I would like to see the antis debating about another ban the following happens:

AR15 magazine manufacturers state their production numbers as being a total of 10 million magazines produced and sold to civ dealers from Sept 13 to Jan 1 2005.

The .50 cal ban resulted in 10,000 more rifles sold to California before 2005.

100,000 AR15 M4s produced and in civ hands by Jan 1, 2005.

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:neener:

None of mine are assault weapons, they are homeland defense weapons. :D

I saw a compilation once--don't remember where--showing that more AR-15-type rifles have been sold since 1994 than in the previous 30 years combined.

I'm sure far, far more AK lookalikes have been sold since 1994 than before, as well.

The BATF used to publish the manufacturing statistics

in '99 bushie made 64,000 ARs
Colt made 30,000
the others made ~ 20,000

say 99 was a good year for Y2k sales

maybe 50,000-100,000 per year for 10 years

thats a half a million to a million ARs in consumer hands during the "ban"

> How many "Assualt Weapons"?

Never heard of an "assualt weapon," though there are plenty of so-called "assault weapons."

Was it printed "Assualt" somewhere...

dev_null,

I thought I corrected my spelling error a day and a half before your post.

Was it printed "Assualt" somewhere at the time of your post?

It was still in the Subject line at the time. Oh, and there was a smiley missing from my post, my bad. No offense intended.

:D

Don't fret over it guys.

It was all a matter of timing. jdkelly corrected the minor typo early in the morning. However, he missed the edit-thread-title window by a few minutes, 4 minutes to be exact, so even though he changed the subject within his post the thread title still said "assualt". (The edit-thread-title window allows you change the title for around 30 minutes or so. After that it isn't editable.)

The next day, dev-null posted his hint at the misspelling. Later, in the evening, I saw that jdkelly had changed the spelling in his post and so I edited the title. Then jdkelly came back and didn't know what was going on. He saw it spelled correctly, so dev-null's post didn't make sense.

All clear?
