how many gun people on Livejournal?

I'm on there as SMJAYMAN, and I co-moderate the guns community. There are a bunch of antis on LJ, but there's also a bunch of whiney 15 year old kids who don't know anything. Figure there's a lot of overlap there....
 
LJ, being pretty much totally devoid of a given subject, is bound to be a cross section of the people who are given to this kind of activity... meaning liberals, conservatives, gunners and antis, people who get out of bed on the left or the right side... split as it is in the rest of society.

Never heard of live journal until you guys brought it up so figured it probably would be worth a look.

:D Geeeeeeez! There's a lot of diversity of thought there - interesting in some cases - not so in others. And the quality... ranges from the illiterate to the intellectual.

There's so much diverse content that going back will be added to my list of things to do.

But the format makes me wonder :confused: - I saw no ads - so who the hell is paying for the huge amount of bandwidth that must be used and why are they doing it?

Some people pay money for their account in exchange for extra features.
 
Heh, cool to see people popping up here on THR that I've seen in the various communities and journals on LJ.

Its def a kid thing (i'd assume - being a geek i've never felt a need to make a message blog site for .....whoever ... to read) - they get all around on that thing... posting this or that - its almost like a youngins newspaper - since thye get to look at all thier friends "stories" ... rofl

I'd consider myself a computer nerd and didn't know a dang thinga bout this till i was monitoring our router and making sure where went what etc.... So had to figure it out =)

Some answers here.

This thread makes a THR LJ community somewhat appealing. Wonder how practical that would be.

I believe that would be the guns community pretty well. It seems like most of the THR'ers on LJ are in that community from what I've read.

One can always start their own community, though.

Language matters
The Star Tribune reported on the opening of a Mexican Consulate office in St. Paul. No problem there.

But the reporter wrote this:
According to Census data, there are about 100,000 Mexican immigrants in Minnesota, though with the influx of undocumented immigrants, that number is probably closer to 140,000, said consul general Nathan Wolf.

I believe the guns LJ community would be closer to TFL or possible GlockTalk. It is usually well behaved, but god help you if you post a pic with your finger on the trigger, (Unless it is a hot babe with a finger on the trigger, then it is okay, for some reason.) :rolleyes:

It gets a little rowdy there sometimes, but it is pretty even-keeled.

Maybe comparing it to GlockTalk is going too far.
 
We do moderate the Guns community, you know. ;) If I catch somebody misbehaving BADLY I warn them then if they continue they are more than welcome to post in somebody else's community because they won't be posting in ours anymore.
