I just bought my second gun online and would like to know how many other people buy online.
Both guns I have bought online I have never handled untill it came in,I hope I'm happy with my second purchase.

I've made my last 8 transactions through online vendors.

I don't see what the issue is with holding the gun, most places have a return policy if you are not 100% happy.

I do plenty of research pre-purchase, and know what I'm getting myself into.

Out of all my online transactions I have never been unhappy, and even if I did get a 'lemon', I have saved enough time/money purchasing in this way to make it worth it.:D

Oh BTW I votd for the first option, it's been so long since making a F2F purchase I thought it was the most applicable.

I've bought a S&W gunsite online (Bud's), a S&W M&P 40 (Bud's) and my CZ 452 rifle (Whittaker's). I've also bought a LOT of parts...particularly AR15..but I guess I could only classify two of those parts as guns...the stripped lower (RRA) and the polymer lower/stock. So I've bought about 1/2 of my guns online. Had great experience with all of them (except waiting for my RRA....but I guess my wait time would be a dream compared to the panic buying now!)

Most of the guns I buy I would call discontinued classic target guns and I can find them readily on the online auction sites. The guns I have aquired, I would wait a lifetime seeing them show up by chance in my little small town gun stores.
I have bought many, many guns online and sold a few too. Never had a problem and always been pleased.

Most of the gun stores in Phoenix can best be described as scam artists. They mark guns up horribly. Even after shipping and FFL transfers, I simply cannot get most guns locally for the same price as online. You'll occasionally find deals at gun shows from walkers, but the retail stores and dealer tables are awful. Case in point: what would you usually pay for a good Mosin Nagant? The dealer tables at the gun show wanted $110 to $130 for ones in decent condition with good bores. Just the gun. You can get them from AIM Surplus for $75 with accessories.

Buying online also lets me pick and choose, and get exactly what I want instead of being limited to an individual store's selection.

Agreed Mike, I don't have the time or resources to go deal hunting, or call individual stores so some half-brain can tell me they have the gun I want, when they don't.

If I didn't have the Internet as a purchasing tool my collection would probably be smaller, and contain firearms I probably wouldn't have other wise..

Only bought two that way, one new RIA Compact 1911 and one used FEG PA-63. Good deals on both.

That compact is more than likely a lemon... you can send it to me to dispose of, I will even pay shipping.
I wouldnt mind having 2. :D

My last three guns were purchased online.
First of those three was off of gunbroker.com from jimsguns65... I highly recommend him.
The last two guns were from BudsGunShop.com... I highly, highly recommend them, as you will read from others as well.

Simply put, price. I even gave the local dealers every chance possible too. I told them exactly what I was buying, where, and how much. They just waved me out the door while shaking their head 'no'.

Bought about 50 guns from AA and GB. So far 2 were less than desired. Seller exchanged one and the other I decided I could live with.

I love shopping from my recliner. If you don't see what you want, wait a few days and you'll probably find it.

I buy online whenever possible. Most of the guns I'm interested in just aren't available locally.
That plus the fact that I hate paying state sales tax (8.5%)
I hate it, I hate it I hate it!

I spent a bucket of money on revolvers (ten) and did not see a single one until I picked them up from my FFL. All were used and exactly as advertised. Communication is key, getting the money sent and following up on when they are sent helped a lot.

I've bought two online. Good experiences. Some I need to see & handle before buying, but the two I bought were a 1911 and a shotgun, so they didn't really apply. I knew how they'd feel.

To buy online, don't you have to have it shipped and registered with a licensed store? Or does it get shipped to your house?

I buy on-line if the local shop does not have the gun I want in stock or if the price is too crazy local. Although, I have never found a gun local and then bought it online just cause it was cheaper.

Remember, Buy the Seller.

I've only bought 3 since Al Gore invented the web.

Remington Nylon 76 lever action .22
Cooper Custom Classic .22 LR
1969 blue 4" Python

We have some pretty good gun stores around the state and I prefer to handle what I'm getting.

"I don't see what the issue is with holding the gun"

On the more common retail guns there is a lot of variability in the way the parts fit together. IOW, it is possible to get a near-perfect one (trigger pull, timing, wood to metal fit, wood quality, etc.) if you look at enough of them. If you're buying nearly-all-plastic guns I don't know if it matters.
