how many reloads can you get out of a cartridge if you don't make your reloads really hot?

Depends on the brass condition to start, along with the chamber dimensions, and how much they are being sized. Milder loads will help brass last longer, as will proper annealing.

it'll be a .221 fireball put through a rifle. i'll probably be buying 2 boxes of nosler ammunition, and then reloading that brass. but i'm not looking for a specific number, something general or close. am i looking at 5, 10, 15 reloads?

out of .221? A lot, as long as you don't get too wild, and use good dies.

yeah, i'd say 10 - 15 before you need to become concerned enough w/ it.

even some hot loaded 25-06 or 7 mag or whatever will usually get you around 5 - 7 loads.

If you neck size only you will get a lot more reloads than full length resizing.
