How many rounds does a makarov hold?

Standard Maks hold 8+1.

+1, unless you have one of the commercial Russian double-stack models, which (IIRC) are 13+1, like a CZ-83.

Russian "hi cap" Makarovs are 12 or 10 plus one and strangely also take and function with the standard 8 round Makarov magazine. I could swear though that my Chinese Makrov came with one or two magazines that only held 7 rounds though for some reason.

Your right some Mak mags require lots of force to get 8 in. especially with HP,
when I use those mags I settle for 7.

My 380 mak actually will hold 9 rounds in a single stack mag but the mag won't go in the gun with the slide forward. Mark

The follower can be shortened at the base to hold 9 rounds with the slide forward, making the 380 a 9 +1.
Since the slide catch is removed when the follower is shortened the slide will not lock back on an empty magazine.

If it holds 9 but wont function properly unless it has 8 in it.........Then its an 8 round mag
