So i heard socom adopted the scar as their offiicial rifle? are they issueing it to eeryone? how many are they ordering? i heard 600 troops were issued the rifle. are there diffinate plans on ordering more, if so how many and by when?

I ask because i think the rifle looks really cool and i want one, but 3,000 is out of my price range. i would imagine if say 30,000 units were ordered by socom (or however many) the price would come down. maybe to the 2,000 dollar range. Lol eben 2 grand is out of my price range, but i could justify saing up 2K a lot easier

Price will come down after its been out a while. Still waiting on my buddy from SF to text me back about what he's carrying now a days.

I don't believe any unit has adopted the SCAR across the board yet. There are multiple groups out there testing the rifle in limited quantities. Earlier this year in Iraq SF was still using Mossbergs for warning shots during some mounted movement.

If the Army makes the switch, you will know about it. It'l be a BIG deal. For the forseeable future, though, I don't think the M4 is going anywhere. :)

The people issued those rifles don't *exist*, so the price won't really go down. And the reason its expensive right now is because people are willing to pay that much.

"This photo, which is purported to be real, shows a Ranger using the 7.62x51mm FN SCAR-H ( MK 17 Mod 0 )."

From what I've heard, only a few SCARs have been issued to forward deployed USSOSOM units for testing.

The rest are still in the testing and evaluation phase state side. I've heard mixed reviews.

US Army Special Forces uses them. I made a thread yesterday asking why they switched to it, but I don't think anyone knew.
