Ooh 460 mag is a hot one. Haven’t shot it before but I’ve seen the velocities and weights shown in my manual and that looks like a wallop.

Yeah the powder bar change is really quick. I never thought of having several pre-set, though I’ve thought about just buying the powder dies. Sounds like a good way to speed thing up for sure.

What is this "tool head" you all speak of? I thought if you bought Dillon, you could
    ?

-disgruntled owner of a lee press

There, there. I’ll let you know though when these toolheads I speak of break down or any other part of the press for that matter.

You should take a moment and fix that Caps Lock key. ;)

I load 10 calibers, but don't see the need to have more than 2 powder measures (1 for large bar, 1 for small bar). To make moving the powder measure between all the die sets extremely easy, I'm using the Quick Disconnect for Dillon Powder Measures by Entirely Crimson.

This is a nicely designed and very well made accessory. They offer several other Dillon accessories, too.

► However, stay away from their XL650 Index Bearing. It's not physically tall enough to properly index the shell plate.

    Hi...
My son and I are currently two LnLs...one large primer and one small. The large primer unit is used for .45ACP and 10mm in bushings with their own dedicated powder measures. The small primer unit is used for .357Mag and 9mm in bushings with their own dedicated powder measures.
I have a Dillon 550 that I am slowly accumulating tooling for big bore revolver cartridge reloading. I have four tool heads and one powder measure and a couple of RCBS die sets in .45Colt and .44Mag. Still need die sets for .41Mag and .44Spl along with powder measures.
The RCBS die sets that I currently have for those calibers will continue to be used on my RockChucker for small specialized batches and load development.

Probably won't be much movement on getting geared up on the Dillon until after the holidays. Buying Christmas gifts and hunting seasons will be something of a drain on my discretionary spending. There are always limits...

You just need the adj piston for the powder dispensers, ~$8. Push the release and swap out as you do caliber changes. Run 20-30 drops to settle the powder and you should be good to go.

My 550 9mm works great with a Lee sizer, Dillon expander/powder through, Redding comp seater and taper crimp.
It's my only tool head right now, really, really want one for 45 automatic as I have to swap presses to load 45.

I keep collecting all of that small-brass .45 ACP, since I don’t have to switch the primer feed system over to use it.

Yup, a huge advantage when loading .45ACP...I have almost 1k case now

If you're worried about a loss of velocity using SPP, just use Magnum SPP

My press is a BL 550, so no primer feed to switch over, just the cup.
Agree about small primer brass though. During the last two component shortages large pistol primers were the first thing to disappear and the last to reappear.
I have a nice stash of Blazer sp brass.

These toolheads match the dillon specs perfectly and work well. I'll be buying more.

I also picked up 2 more powder dies today so I dont spend 20 minutes switching those over every time :cuss:

I think they will pay for themselves ($14) after one switch.
