Okay folks. We are constantly reminded that our pistols(CZ, P64, FEG etc) chambered in the 9mm Makarov, are "Not" Makarovs. So how many of you "Un-Makarov":D owners, lurk out there. Tell, us all, what kind you own, what you feel about em, and pictures if you have 'em. Sound Off!

Also tell us of what you think of all those, guru types, sagely reminding you that what you own is not a "True" Makarov. Moreover, your "Un-Makarov"
is somehow not worthy to strike the primer on the holy 9x18mm round:neener:

Keep thinking about getting a P-64 to go with the Makarov I own, but haven't quite found the time to do so. Local gun store has one for under $150 in the case that's been sitting there for a while . . .

Did own one of the FEG PPK clones, but since it was in .380 I guess it doesn't count. Great gun, though, one of those ones I wish I still had.

Mine is a P-64. Got it for around $130. Wolf makes springs for it, I ordered the 18# hammer spring makes a HUGE difference. Cost me a couple of bucks.
Came unissued, a real tack driver too. At least as accurate as my 686.

A buddy of mine bought one of those UN-MAK's... The Al frame broke within a couple hundred rounds of factory ammo!:neener:

Possably an Isolated incident... just has made me shy away.

I've got a CZ83 (9x18), a Hungarian PA-63 and three Polish P64 "Un-Makarovs".
(along with 17 "real" Makarovs)

I don't put down the Un-Makarovs. They are decent pistols in their own right but (IMO) they aren't all around as good a pistol as a Makarov, except maybe the CZ.

The thing is, calling a P64 or PA-63 a Polish or Hungarian Makarov is about like calling your Ford a Ford Porsche, because both cars use gasoline.

It's incorrect and tends to make the user appear to not know what they are talking about.

What really labels someone as a dumb ass (or an unethical salesman) is repeating the totally incorrect statement that the "Un-Makarovs" are clones of the Makarov.

M2

I definately understand.....alot of people refer to their guns by caliber, and not make....example( My .45, or my 30-06).

And refering to them as "Un-Makarov" is a little self deprecating humor...a little tongue in cheek...
if you will.

"Un-Makarov"

That's a good description, that in one simple word covers all the guns in question.:)

My first 9x18 Un-Mak was the PA-63. Good gun but after I bought a few Makarovs I decided I didn't want the PA-63 and got rid of it.
Mistake.
I bought another one.:)

When the P64 showed up I bought one. Liked it so much I bought two more.

The CZ, I bought (new) because I thought it would be like the pretty sister to the Makarovs. And it is.

Recently bought a new CZ 83 in 32ACP.

I accidently bought an Un-Makarov once thinking it was a Makarov. I didnt even bother shooting it. I immediately rented a bulldozer and drove over it to put it out of my misery. :neener:

Wow some of you guys have..

some really great looking pistols here. Mine really is just a stock P64.

I've got a CZ-82 and love it, very nice compact double stack with the option of carrying cocked and locked or double action first shot. Was a little bit of a search finding an IWB holster for it, and I don't carry it as much, but an excellent small carry gun.

I've also heard them referred to as Makanots, but I just call mine a CZ.

Recently I tried out the trigger on a Polish P64 Un-Makarov at a local pawn shop... that first DA pull was beyond horrid, unbelievably heavy. It was like using just one finger to pull one of those hand-squeezer exerciser things.

Silent BOB

That aspect of the p64 is well known.......wolf makes a much lighter hammer sping for it for a couple of bucks. Factory rating is about 29#, I've got wolf's 18# in mine, and it's a totally different animal now.

I have a Hungarian R-61, PA-63, Polish 64, pair of CZ 82s and a bunch of Maks. (1)Z code Chinese, 3 Russians, military issue,(4)East Germans and two straight issue Bulgarians and one nickle plated miltex special edition Bulgarian in the box.

I foolishly sold a R59 I had years ago...:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Gun accumulation. Its an illness...but I am not complaining. :p

I've got a Hungarian PA-63 and a Polish P-64. I purchased two un-maks for less than the price of a real mak. What am I missing out on? A slide release? Oh well. They both shoot well.

for those of you

who own p64's......wolf now make reduced power hammer springs. Mine wears an 18# (factory is about 30#).
