How Many Women Shoot

My wife doesn't carry...yet. But she is my regular shooting partner at the range and skeet field. Darn good shot too.

My wife loves to shoot. She started on shotguns and loves them. She gets the hallway howitzer if needed. She is really into handguns now and looking for a carry gun. Also attended an Appleseed and that peaked an interest in rifles.

How many women out there carry and back up their husband?

Does it count if you're not backing up a husband? ;)

My concealed permit just arrived in the mail last week. My toy poodle has not yet expressed his appreciation.

How many women out there carry and back up their husband? I never go
anywhere without her and her 1911. She's always got my back.

My wife would resent the notion that she's "backing me up" and not carrying as an equal part of the equation.
I take it yours doesn't mind?

Only you know..

...

For some reason, watching the vid/s my mind doesn't want to buy it.. :scrutiny:

But, I have been known to be wrong before.. lol

First time i took my wife to the range was 20 years ago. It was the first time she shot a pistol. She wanted to shoot at a silhouette so I bought her a target. She proceeded to shoot a smiley face in the target with my 38 special.

Note to self, dont piss off the wife.

My wife doesn't have her concealed carry permit, she just started shooting a year ago, at age 70. Had never shot before in her life, and proceeded to shoot the center out of an 8" bullseye target out at 15 feet. She can't do semi-autos as she can't rack the slide on any semi autos I own. But she's deadly with my old Ruger Service Six in .38 Special. Somehow, my old gun became "her" gun.

I sure as hell ain't making her mad if she's got "her" pistol loaded.

My wife likes to shoot. When we got married, we bought his/her Glocks (G17/G22). We both take our G27's everywhere and if there's any trouble in the house, it's shotgun/pistols for me and AR/pistols for her - we'll back up each other along with our dogs.

Anybody see the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith"?

How Many Women Shoot?

Not nearly enough women feel the need to shoot.....we'd have more if savages were beating down their doors ready to scalp and rape them, or if meat wasn't shrink wrapped and bar coded waiting to be picked up at the grocery store.

OP - I don't think you meant your post to come across as sexist, but it kinda does.

Anyway - As Nushif said, my wife might resent the idea that she was "backing me up". Neither of us carries (impossible in MD) but if we were able to, we'd carry for our own reasons - which include backing each other up if needed. She does shoot for fun (when we have the time and can afford it) and like a few others, she routinely outshoots me with her snubbie.

:D Hubby made the same note the first time he saw my shooting skills.

Mine almost always carries, and let's me know I'm on my own if she doesn't carry for some reason. Luckily, it's seldom that she leaves me without a backup...

Yes, we're not all here to accessorize for our husbands/boyfriends!

Some of us like to think we could take care of ourselves without having to be just 'backup'.

:)

i dunno about the OP being sexist, I'm in a scout platoon(all males) and we "back each other up" all the time... maybe your just looking to be offended. I'm trying to get my wife to shoot, she is hesitant, came from a very anti family.

My wife is blind in her right eye and of course is right dominant , so she did not learn or have the desire until she tried my AR with a scope and some lefty instruction from yrs truly . She now is the range instigator most of the time ie. honey are we going shooting today? YAY

I took girls shooting in college all the time and most of them really enjoyed it. I knew a couple who did (and still do) shoot regularly and also have CCW. It was a great way to have fun, teach new shooters about guns/2A, and, well, meet girls:).

It's a little harder up here in a major East Coast city as many young women (and men) are quite apprehensive about firearms. They have never been around guns and assume they are inevitably used to kill innocent people just like the anti's would have you believe. It typically takes a gradual approach, getting them open-minded toward guns at first rather than simply inviting someone to the range.

To all women who have CCW hats off to you. I saw a bit on the serial rape case in Detroit on the news this evening - no need to be a victim to someone like that.

How many women shoot? Less than I would like. According to the NRA polls, women consist of less than 5% of the respondents in general. Sadly, women are statistically more vulnerable than men when it comes to being assaulted based on physical size and strength. Yet many of them claim to "hate guns". I doubt they would "hate" having a gun when they really need one.

For those of you ladies who do shoot, many props to you. It is liberating to possess a true sense of self-sufficiency, and not have to rely on some dude for protection.

My wife of 25yrs shot her first shot about 2yrs ago. I was surprised she even went with me. She got her license to carry, but she hasn't shot enough for me to let her carry. Atleast she knows which end to point in the right direction and load and unload safely. {never without me around}

We have one female pistol shooter at the club, that's it. She's a helluva good bullseye shooter!
