How much cheaper to reload?

Be sure to read the sticky about being a new reloader. First thing you need is a good book on reloading. Read it then read it again. Welcome to a very enjoyable hobby.

On my 40 S&W rounds, I'm saving 60% consistently :

8lbs Unique = $100, which is one penny/round at 7 grain charge
10,000 Wolf small pistol primers = $210 delivered, so 2.1 cents/round
1000 Berry's bullets = $100 for the 155 grain, so 10 cents/bullet

This comes out to just over 13 cents/round. Compare that to about 30 cents/round for factory fodder. My reloads are far more accurate and more pleasant to shoot, as I download the powder charge for reduced recoil.

Hairball, you are exactly right.:D Instead of shooting 1000 rounds of factory fodder/year, I now shoot 3000 rounds of my reloads/year. I shoot a whole lot more for the same amount of money, don't really save any, oh well.:D

HEHE, I got the bug up my butt to buy a 460 S&W. When I looked up factory vs consumables...well reloading I get a box and a half free basically. BIG difference.

Hairball is right though, its cheaper per bullet so that just gives you the excuse to make more ammo. So, I guess the appropiate saying would be...You get more BANG for your buck!
