On Thursday (the 25th) I placed an order for 2 Ruger bandanas, and one Ruger twill patch.

Today I look in the mail, and there's a package from Ruger; inside are the two bandanas, the patch, a decal, and a nicely made card saying "With the Compliments of Sturm, Ruger, & Company, Inc." next to the Ruger logo.

For just a hair over $10 for the bandanas and the patch, I was happy. For something so nice, for service so quick, I'm positively joyous.

Funny, but I'm still quite happy. I mean, they could've just as easily slapped the two bandanas and the patch in a package and mailed it out later. But instead, I get a nice package, with more than I expected. It's a nice change from the seemingly "ho-hum" attitude of most other mail-order companies.

Yep I agree I would be almost happy if they made a good 10 rd mag for mini 14. Truth to be told I bought it in 99 and it has NEVER fired/chambered a rd since it left factory. (I assume they test fire them there and then clean them?)

Come on don't rain on his parade.
I'm glad Ruger made your day man .

What Kodiak says. Don't rain on Third Rail's parade (in fact, the only person I deliberately told that I'd wish it rain on his parade was a Gene Kelly type who loved the rain). The average Ruger employee has no say about 20-30 round magazines. If you were to ask one, (s)he'd respond like any of us. Why not? Let's hope Bill Jr. is more understanding to the wants of his customers.

Ohhhhh man, I think I'd wet myself if I could buy a new 20 or 30 round Ruger factory made magazine for my Ranch Rifle. You can say what you want about the Mini-14, (I know, I know, not accurate, blah, blah, blah) but there is not a gun in my inventory that is more fun to shoot.

Third Rail,
That's great that Ruger gave you great service!!

I'd like to hear more threads on what a gun manufacturer, supplier, retailer, or gun related company did to make you a happy customer. Those threads are more enjoyable to read than the "this company made a bad product" etc.

Nah. Didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade. Heck, if Ruger does good, I do good. My whopping 40 shares of RGR does good if Ruger does good.

Now, if they only put out 20 and 30 round Mini-14 magazines, you know how much good that would do to RGR???

:D

I always thought the same as well, hence posting this. I really do like underscoring how great a company is when they give this kind of service.

Glad you like Ruger so much and are happy with them.

Maybe you could help.

Does Ruger like you as much?

If so maybe you could get 'em to manufacture the Cylinder throats on their Vaquero line in .45LC to the right size. Please? Pretty Please? Pretty Please with CLP on it? :D

Have you tried sending a letter to them? It does wonders, as it's obvious that they want customers to be happy.

And everyone, stop trying to subtly bash Ruger here. :fire:

I have always gotten great service out of my Ruger firearms. The only time I needed one of my Rugers (P 89 DC) repaired I got fantastic service. It was a 30 day turn around and I was back in business.
I also have a couple of Ruger factory 30 rounders for my Mini-14.
Great company with great service.

Didn't look all that subtile to me...:D Let me add mine:
bill ruger, another reason standard cap mags are no longer available for the peasents...:fire: :cuss:

But good on their customer service for taking care of their customers.

Bill Ruger spent his life providing good firearms (not the best, but good) at very fair prices. He was innovative. Ruger obviously puts a lot of attention to their customer support and I for one never heard of Ruger not making one of their guns work right.

IMO, Ruger lived to regret his statements in support of magazine restrictions, as evidenced by his founding donation to the National Firearms Museum - a million dollar mea culpa.

I think it also important to remember the context of his remarks - it was many years ago in the RKBA battle now, and I've always seen Bill Ruger not as a friend of the antis, but as tragically nieve in believing what he might have accomplished. Tragic for all of us, yes, but also for him too. He paid for his mistake many times over, I think.

Ruger's folly may even have been a necessary step in having gun makers understand just how fierce the battle is - remember, it was long before reckless lawsuits and other inventive attacks on the industry took form. I dare say that the missteps of Ruger, and later of S&W, may have gone a long way toward showing the rest of the industry what a bad idea it was to try to cozy up to anti-gun elements.

ANyway, I wish gun-owners were as skilful and practiced at coalescing and forgiveness as they seem to be at banishment. If you really believe RKBA is a war, unity is a necessary prerequisite for winning it. Holding grudges just serves the interests of Sarah Brady.

That's my 2 cents, and IMO, it's a one heckuva bargain! :)

I'll second that, MikeHaas.....

Bill Ruger was certainly one of the outstanding firearms designers of the 20th Century and the company he founded has always provided excellent value products for shooters.

Ruger made a mistake in his compromise with the enemy, but that in no way diminishes the fact that Sturm, Ruger & Co. are a fine company to do business with, nor does Bill's faux pas alter the fact that Ruger firearms are some of the best values on the market today.

The old guy lived to regret his mistake.

The company produces fine firearms at reasonable prices.

Pull together, please?;)

I agree with Mike and Fallingblock,

Mike, you raised a perspective on the limited capacity magazines that I hadn't heard before. Perhaps the move towards limited capacity magazines was suggested and promoted out of naivety and the desire to get the antis to stop their campaign.

Ruger and Smith and Wesson still make very good products. I have to admire the owner of Barrett firearm's audacity to tell that police department in California if they keep villifying his products etc, that he won't sell them any more products.

Who is Justin ?

Maybe me? Normally, when I asked about Ruger I'm not subtle at all about my reasons (it goes beyond the high-cap mag issue). I won't go into them in this thread to avoid thread-crapping. Third Rail, I am glad Ruger's customer service department treated you well.

"Last edited by Justin on March 29th, 2004 at 10:50 AM" is under my post , but it looks the same as what I posted .I don't remeber ever seeing the name on the staff is all so I am a bit confused.

H'lo Third_Rail,
Ruger's a good company.
I'm glad that you're satisfied with their service.
