Years ago at Rhein-Main AFB in Germany, one day the Rod and Gun Club only had Winchester 158 grain SWC .357 Magnum ammunition. I bought a box and took my 3 inch Model 65 to the indoor range to practice. The unflash-suppressed powder provided a fireball about two feet in diameter that rolled about five feet from the muzzle. In the next lane over, a German contract dentist from the airbase was taking advantage of his access to the range to shoot his Hämmerli Sport .22 pistol. After I fired one cylinder, the dentist came over to see what I was shooting and asked that I not shoot it while he was shooting. It seems that his nice, tight one inch 25 meter groups contained some...flyers when the .357 went of next to him.
Being a good neighbor, I waited until he stepped back from the line to reload his magazines before continuing to shoot. During one of these pauses, I saw what looked like a strobe light going off at the other end of the firing line, much brighter than my orange fireballs. Seems someone brought a 10 inch Contender in .30-30 WIN. I was glad I wasn't next to him.
