How often do you wipe down your carry gun?

If you carry a concealed gun, I imagine that it gets handled at least several times per day (putting it on, taking it off, adjustments throughout the day). How often do you wipe it down to take off fingerprints?

Should a daily carry gun (say, IWB) be blued or stainless?

On the rare occassion I do carry, I do take the 2 minutes to wipe down the gun at the end of the day.

Every day. It's the perfect excuse to fondle your gun in the name of "maintenance" :D

My carry gun is an XD and I find wiping it down keeps the plastic from getting all grungy from dirty hands and oil. Almost as easy as a Glock :D

Not often. What I am concerned about is the weather. I've been leaving my gun in the locked glove box while at work. The last few days the temperature has been in the low 20s. I'm sorta concerned about the fluctuating of eight hours in the cold parking lot followed by roughly 12-16 hours either on me or in the warmth of my home. Should I be concerned and besides running a patch through and light oil?

NEVER!

My H&K likes the sweat!

Gets cleaning only after every second trip to the range!

Hello All.

About once a week. My Ruger KP97DC is stainless/synthetic, and wears very well. My problem lately has been the weather, too. After 9 hours in the truck, that rascal is COLD!!! About ten minutes before quitting time, everyone goes out to warm up their cars, and I keep asking them if one of them will go out and warm up my pistol for me. :D No takers yet, though. What an inconsiderate bunch. Anyway, about once a week I wipe down the outside and swab the bore to lose the lint bits that seem to accumulate after a while. That's it.

Every day with a clean T-shirt...

Every 2-3 weeks with a Rig-Rag.
I received a supply of "too small" new T-shirts for Christmas. Rather than take them back, I kept them for "wiping down" the guns purposes.

Almost never. I have been known to shoot 50 rds or so and carry it for a few weeks and then shoot it some more. Finally get around to cleaning it. Have done this with every gun (other then black powder) for yrs. I normally wipe down the exterior after shooting before carrying it is more to keep oils/dirt from getting in my cloths. I Trust they will always go bang because they always have. Everything looks in darn nice shape. Fingerprints I wipe off asap.

The two 1911 that I carry are both stainless so I clean them once a week ( usually ) but I very seldom wipe them down .

Like MacPelto, never except after a range session.

You should consider several things for weapons maintenance. First is your environment. Are you in a high humidity climate that promotes rust? Second, material composition (stainless & polymer or what?). Some steel requires more attention than others. Third, your method of carry. Belly band by the skin or hip holster or what? Body moisture will affect how often you need to wipe down the gun. Finally, body chemistry. Some folks are dry skinned and their guns never rust. I have a buddy who has "acid" hands that eats the blue off any gun. For him, wiping down a gun is a daily chore.

Wouldn't want to get rid of that protective lint coating...

I leave my SIG in the holster and just unclip it from my belt at the end of the day. The whole thing goes in the Gun Vault. Minimizes touching of the metal parts.

Not too much. My carry guns (with the exception of a Makarov) have polymer grips.

I like the idea of a protective lint coating. Does that come in a bake-on finish? Or is it just spray-on?

Actually, I think is applied by a team of tactical dust bunnies surreptitiously during the night. You might check Brownells or Midway, though. They may offer it in a spray can.
