I was recently considering getting a Sig p238. I read on some forums (owner posts) that their recoil springs needed to be changed out every 700-1500 rounds (depending on which post from various ops) to maintain reliability and and for the sake of the frame.

It occurred to me that my S&W manufacture Walther PPK has about 2000 rounds without a spring change (standard velocity ammo).

So, does anyone know how often I should be changing the recoil spring on my PPK?

And one other question: has anyone fired buffalo bore 95 gr +P FMJ's through their PPK? results?

thanks in advance.

When we are driving don the freeway the valve springs in the engine are cycled something on the order of 1500 times a minute. We expect them to last for 120,000 miles.

Are recoil springs made out of cottage cheese that everybody thinks you have to replace them after 1500 rounds?

I was talking to Kimber customer service about my TLE/RL and they said every 1500 rounds for a recoil spring change.
