I've recently started tumbling my used brass. I've run several hundred cases through the same media. It still seems to work although is visibly darker and dirtier than originally. Just curious, how often do people change their media? I'm using plain corn cob from Lyman (the greens stuff).

How Often To Change Media?

I use walnut hulls.
Corn Cob Media get dirty very fast. Change it when it "gets dirty" or when the media will not give you the quality of cleanliness you want.
I buy my untreated media at PETS MART in 15 pound bags[Corn Cob] or
25 pound bags [Walnut Hulls].

My current media has cleaned and polished over 10,00 rounds and still looks like the new media in the jug. I use as 50/50 mix of corn cob and walnut plus I pretreat the media with Nu Finish and use a used dryer sheet with every batch. I believe the dryer sheet keeps he media clean and the Nu Finish is accelerating the polishing. I only tumble for 2 hours, remove the brass add a cap full of Nu Finish and let it run awhile so the wax is throughly mixed up. Then I add a fresh dryer sheet cut into 8 pieces before I put it away.
