I have a Rock River AR15 CAR A4. I would like to remove the 6 pos. stock and replace with an ACE Skeleton 9 inch. I have the stock, standard length buffer/buffer spring. What are the steps, and will I be able to complete myself or should I have a pro take care of it? Will I have to replace the buffer retaining pin/spring as well, or will I be able to keep the old and use with new hardware.

Thank you for your time and guidance.

DML2007,
Just changed out my fixed fullsize stock for the ACE skel. the other day after a coworker wanted my stock. I retained my fullsize buffer assembly and slid the cheek pad on the tube assembly as I slid the ACE on. Biggest thing is keeping the rear pin detent spring in place as you "seat" the ACE. The upper screw of the butt plate secures the stock to the buffer assmebly. 30 minutes top if you take you time and clean everything.

Responded quickly last evening and after review I didn't totally answer your questions. 1) double check gun is unloaded 2) loosen notched collar on your car stock w/stock wrench and remember takedown detent which is held in place by plate that becomes loose as you unscrew the notched collar 3) unscrew stock slowly from receiver keeping in mind the force of the buffer assembly when it's free from the receiver 4) screw in your fullsize buffer assembly and make sure the plunger is depressed enough so the tube doesn't come in contact with the body of the plunger, just the tip which retains the buffer 5) on tube end tighten w/wrench 6) slide ACE on making sure takedown detent is in place and not bent sideways 7) tighten ACE to buffer tube w/top screw of butt plate 8) marvel at your completed DIY work
