Hi . I just want to know how to protect and clean the phosphor bronze brushes, and the nylon and tynnex brushes after using them. I use solvents like Hpppes No. 9, hoppes benchrest No. 9, clenzoil, the blue wonder and break free clp. All i do after using them to clean the barrels is put the brushes under hot running water for about 30 seconds, give am a couple of jerks, and then let put them someplace dry to let them dry off, and then just put em in a box.

Is that right? Or should i be doing something else?

Thanks in advance guys.

I blast mine with Gun Scrubber.
All the crap just "Goes Away"

I gently tap it on a blue shop towel and let it dry.
That's it

Since bore cleaners are designed to attack copper, and since bronze is a copper alloy, I try to get the bore cleaner off of the bronze. I hose 'em with a spray oil such as WD40 or Rem Oil, them either shake and pat dry or blow dry with compressed air when I have access to it. That keeps 'em from getting green and gunky in storage-- they stay bright and clean.

If your method works there's no reason to change.

I think there are at least as many cleaning methods as there are shooters. Maybe more.

I keep a pint can of denatured alcohol paint solvent on the bench.

Just screw off the lid & slosh'm around while still on the rod, and then fling off the excess.

The dirt & grime settles to the bottom between uses.

Alcohol will cut both water & oil based bore cleaners & copper solvents.
