Hi! this may sound a little bit silly.

I happen to have an N-frame S&W model 627 5" & have applied for a permit to transport & i would like to keep it beside me inside my car when im driving everyday. Can anybody share any ideas on how i can at least conceal my N-frame (keeping it discreetly tucked beside me at all times).

I got it NIB along with a metalic case but its just too bulky. I was thinking that if i just attach a holster beside the gear shift mount but that would just be very visible. Any insights would be great. thanks.

I have the model you speak of. I don't know what type of car you have, but in my truck the holster fits nicely between the seat and console. This even works in my Honda accord.

What are gun laws like in PI?

I'd go for some sort of holster jambed or mounted between the seat & console.

In the event you have to slam on the brakes, or have a minor accident, a messenger bag or loose holster is likely to end up on the floor on the other side of the car where you can't reach it.

Does your vehicle have a hard molded pocket on the inside of the driver's door? That's a handy place for a revolver. I keep my S&W model 60 there, encased in a cheap pocket holster, sights oriented upward, barrel pointed toward the rear. My wife sewed up a heavy, oversize cloth cover for it in a color that blends with the door color and is big enough to hide any gun metal from view. To use the gun I just have to reach down and withdraw the entire gun/holster/cover assembly with my left hand, then reach over with my right hand to draw the gun.

Curious why you would need such a large revolver for the car. If that's all you have or can afford that's understandable. Smaller revolvers can be found in very potent calibers. Perhaps an old police trade-in that looks a bit rough on the outside but mechanically excellent. They can be had fairly inexpensively depending on model and you wouldn't worry about ruining the finish on a NIB gun. You would have more hiding/mounting options. Also, why not keep the gun concealed on your person?

Hows about between your legs on the front of the drivers seat? I run a nylon strap with a holster strung on it over/under the seat. My Judge lives there when I take a trip.

pps - i drive normally typical sedans (civic, mazda, etc). well, the gunlaws (on permit to transport license from residence to the range) here in manila says that it should be concealed even inside your vehicle & should be unloaded.

seeker two - whats a messenger bag?

rcmodel / The Lone Haranguer - great! thats somewhat what i had in mind. my bro-in-law keeps his inside a hardbound medical book (altered inside of course)

don95sml - yep mine does but it won't just fit in.

Colt Smith - I have two wheel pistols. one is a snub which i gave to my brother so that leaves me with the big guy. Im hoping to get myself a North American Arms someday. Budget constraints.

mgkdrgn - nice one! might consider this! thanks!

Jackal - great!

Another idea, is seat covers with the front pocket(s).
I am not sure if J.C.Whitney is making /offering these (or anyone else) for some of today's vehicles.

Still my vehicle gun was a Model 29, with a 5" barrel, and it often was right between my legs, in that pocket.

Also a long gun, would fit in the long pocket on bench seats, of sedans and trucks.
Behind the seat of a truck the covers had a sleeve or two, and pockets.

So in a truck for instance, I could have a Model 29 and Ithaca 37 Riot shotgun up front, and Model 94 in 30-30 behind the seat easy to access.
Concealed, legal, and handy.

Like I said, I have not checked to see what is offered today in such covers...

I like the looks of that strap/holster combo above... maybe just slide it a bit so the gun is under the seat

You could ... but I just cover it with a black towel. Black holster, black gun, black strap, black seat, tinted glass .... cain't see a thing. :)

When I'm going some place where I can't take my gun (Post Office, places with by the drink liquor licenses, etc.), I put the gun I'm carrying in the glove box.

On the seat beside me under some sort of cloth. The police have not even noticed when they pulled me over once. :neener:
