Here's how you and I can help win the keep and bear arms case now before the US Supreme Court.

They are in the process of opening a PayPal account so that they can receive e-mail donations. They know PayPal is evil but there's no viable alternative.

What other organizations will be filing amicus briefs? I am sure they will need all the help they can get.

Because they don't provide the same level of customer service.

I never heard of this group and am hesitant to send them money. I would feel much better if I received a request from a recognized 2A support organization such as the NRA.

I know for a fact that Joseph Olson is involved in writing one of the three primary amicus briefs that Gura really wants written.... Olson is the point man for writing that brief and submissions are filtered through him. Beyond that, I am not at liberty to say.

I find it ironic that they use paypal.

If Dave Kopel worked with Olson, he must be on the up-and-up.

I'm sending a counter check from my bank with no printed ID lines on it, and my signature is an illegible scrawl. No return address on the envelope. Chances of it getting lost are infinitesimal and consequences small if the check does get lost.

I make a lot of anonymous donations that way so they can't put me on mailing lists. Yuch. I was going to have my bank print up some with just "Anonymous Donor" in the pre-printed portion, but they suggested the counter check method instead.

(And they're happy to have me pack in their bank. :) )

I wouldn't use Paypal if I had to buy baby food.

I know a lot of folks from this board boycott paypal, and I understand the motive. However they are the fastest, easiest way to move relatively small portions of cash around the internet. When I do choose to use Paypal for convenience and speed, I think of it less as funding the enemy, and more as using their own conduits against them.

    Generous donation sent!

Everyone should know that Olson and Hardy are among leading academics who argue that the 2A protects our individual rights to own firearms. Hardy produced the documentary called "In Search of the Second Amendment" which is excellent. It might not be an overstatement to say that David Hardy was THE person who helped bring the academic community back around to the individual rights position...and even some very influential and "liberal" scholars. In fact, Hardy might well be THE MOST important person behind this entire movement and court case! His blog is "of arms and the law."

Alan Gura works closely with all these different people and I assume is working toward the end result that these briefs will all complement one another and cover all the bases.

The Olson/Hardy brief will take "an approach that focuses on the ratification process in 1791 and the meaning and usage of terms found in the Second Amendment. We will show that no one in America, at that time, could have understood the amendment to preserve a state or government organization's "right" and that everyone who did speak out did so in the context of a meaningful individual right to keep and bear arms."

This will be a critical brief, and will be very professionally done. You should not hesitate to send a check to these folks to help with the costs of their brief. It's now or never, folks. Remember, these guys can't and won't go to the Joyce Foundation for their $$...

I don't like paypal either, and sent a check. But I advise you all not to miss the forest for the trees here....

sounds like a good cause. if we get a few hundred people to send them $10 or $20 each, we can maybe make a difference.

better than just anonymously spouting off on the internet.

Its before the supreme court guys all the BS is over. They are in command and have blindfolds on. Money donated will be spent to continue the orgainzation to which you are sending nothing will be done.

When they hear it and the gavel falls it is the "Law of the land".

Heller was great name one time for hammers and tools, now it will be known as the case that came out of the top court... Heller remember it, for it will be a "Heller" for many I am thinking.
