With the latest tragedy, today as gun owners we face an already difficult position and i feel lamented asking why? With an already anti-gun media and many friends and family members today most of us inevitably will be trying to discuss the reason for firearm ownership.

It makes me sick to my stomach that we have to defend a right for self-preservation against an enemy determined to inflict as much damage as possible to human life. Because I believe in the right to own firearms today I am now facing being labeled as akin to making this happen.

How many other people were armed there? Seems like soft targets are always sought out by mentally unstable people. A tragedy...

When my classroom was shot up the gunman said he wouldn’t have done it if we weren’t a gun free zone he wouldn’t have done it.

He also said he knew he had about 10minutes before the police would arrive.

Again the simple short term solution is to eliminate gun free zones. Mine was in my glove box as I wasn’t willing to lose my right to carry.

Being in a campus shooting is scary.

Now all the families impacted will be treated like sheep to make the administers feel good. Those like my student who killed herself over the trauma and folks like me who are hurt again every time we have one of these events will be ignored.

Trying to respectfully keep this thread on track so it is not closed my point of originally posting is a feeling I get today where we gun owners or gun rights supporters are now going to be labeled as helping cause mass shootings.

Hokie I'm so sorry that happened to you brother. Godspeed and continued healing to you, your family, and your community.
Thanks
It’s been a hard road.
Yesterday was rough, and all of the calls to take our rights away will be rough.

I don’t know about others, but I always feel safer when I’m carrying and other responsible people are too.

how man hundreds of millions didn't commit murder yesterday?

Sooner or later something will change whether we like it or not!

I don't bother to try to justify myself or my actions to those who oppose me or my way of life. I really see no point in it, since it will most likely result in both parties walking away irritated and even more firm in previously held beliefs. I believe my time, efforts, and $ are better spent furthering this lifestyle among those interested in becoming a part of it or increasing their participation in it, rather than bickering with those who oppose it, and likely have nothing in common with me anyway. To me, this is "we" and "they" issue. If there is a "WE", then there MUST be a "THEY". I engage the opposition at the polls and through the NRA. "Our" politicians and the NRA (and similar organizations) are empowered by US to do that.

Discussing firearm owner ship with anti-gun people is political to me .I don't discus politics with anybody.
