Hello,
I'm writing an essay on the 2nd amendment. I have two other threads on the subject, but I hit into another question that is hard to google.
The question is kind of "soft", and I expect to find an answer here.
It seems as though the right to carry-laws changed dramatically from 1994 up to today. This becomes obvious when looking at the image in the wiki article on the subject.

In my opinion this is a great victory for the pro-gun movement. How did it happen? In 1994 the pro-gun movement had just lost a huge battle against the federal AWB, yet when the sunset date was hit in 2004 the country and the public opinion had changed dramatically.
All input appreciated!
