So you've all seen it. The cops bust someone for being behind on their child support or twittering something unkind about some slimy politician. On the 5 o'clock news there's footage of this unfortunate's "arsenal" laid out. A SKS, a single-shot shotgun, a Hi-point, an old Davis .380, a de-milled grenade he bought at a gun show, and a dog-eared Fredrick Forsyth paperback with a swastika prominent on the cover. A shocked viewership recoils in horror as law enforcement congratulates itself for stopping this menace to society. So my question is, if this happened to you, what impression would your collection/possessions make on the hoplophobic members of your community?

Uh, none of the above?

I'm not sure how this thread supports the mission of THR promoting responsible gun ownership. Can someone help me out?

Surrounded by arsenal of highly dangerous military weaponry.
(AKA WW2 bolt action rifles and other C&R stuff)

Oh and IBTL! :D

I'm less than crazy about the tone of this poll, but getting ambushed by a camera crew and asked to make a comment about guns, gun ownership, etc. isn't an impossibility, but it's more likely as an MOS situation than at your home.
Just like we can rehearse defensive tactics if confronted with the possibility of physical violence, we can rehearse things to say and do if confronted by media types angling for a story.

I'll be like the guy that they always find after the tornado "Well it got dark then it sounded like a big ole freight train was coming right at us, when I came to the trailer was blowded in that cow pasture way over yonder, funny thing is that I didn't even spill my beer".

None of the poll options fit how I'd appear. I'd be something like:

An informed, articulate, decorated military veteran with multiple advanced degrees and a proud supporter of law-abiding gun ownership (just because we have the right), but a member of no government-designated victim class and therefore an example of the only other thing one can be in a society that is increasingly swayed by the false dichotomy argument: a villain.

The poll appears to be a tongue in cheek reference to how firearm owners are portrayed in the media. I think there could have been better options given.

A clean-cut and articulate gun owner. So they'd never put me on TV anyway.

You left out disgruntled combat vet...so I went with white supremecist. That is the new one from the anti-war librals. Baby killer was getting old with all of the pics of guys leaving their 2-day-old new baby in the arms of the crying wife to go fight the war, so now I get called a Nazi or supremecist.

Yeah, those seem to be the only options the media considers. I guess I am 'no legitimate sporting purpose' but I dont do any sports with mine so I guess they are not thatfar off.

None of the above.
Just an old retired guy in jeans, and boots. Well spoken, but I have been told I still have the chilling stare when ruffled.

Best way to not be on the news? Dont do stupid stuff.

ETA, Your point is what?
How about a choice for normal, hardworking, citizen who pays his bills, takes care of his family, and minds his own business.

Another vote for a lock.

If you are actually IN trouble, no matter how you are dressed the best answer is 'no comment'.

Works for our fearless leaders all the time.

I put in no sporting purpose but after thinking it over I do not see a point either. Right now I actually have no evil black rifles, so it is kinda of inaccurate but my two hand guns probably have no sporting purpose in someone's mind. my other guns are a bolt action and a single shot shotgun.

I was interviewed at the airport when I was bringing a rifle with me on the trip.

I gave good concise answers and was not a wackjob. I never made the news...

I actually wrote that article once for a laugh, but stalled out at the part where I counted up ammunition

Put on a shirt, please

It does not. And thus, is locked.

Also,
Please do not do the IBTL thing. It is annoying. Rather than further threads like this by saying IBTL hit the report button so it can be dealt with.
