I have just sent my howa barrel and action to Pac-Nor. Having it rebarreled and chambered for the fairly new 6.5x47 Lapua.
I am having a premium match grade barrel made the action trued and the bolt face matched to chamber face.
Will mainly use this rifle for deer , varmints and maybe a few matches. It is getting a 8.5 to 1 twist rate. Not to sure what bullets and powder to use. Have Redding S type dies ordered .
Any suggestions. Thanks Wirehair

Sounds like a neat new toy!
What case is the x47 from? I like the 123 gr, SST and AMAX in my Grendel but I think you are going to have more velocity to fool with. The new Hornady ELD-M and ELD-X bullets would be a good place to start.

At first glance I thought how do you get a .308 down to 6.5mm. I think I need another cup of coffee. Lol

Yea, maybe 2 cups. And in response to fist post, the case is a somewhat new design, by Lapua It's a 308 bolt face with a small rifle primer pocket. It's shorter than 308 by 10mm with a long neck and sharp shoulders. With a 130 grn bullet it can get up around 2900-2950 fps
It's know to be very accurate, easy to tune when developing loads and case life is very good. And to top it all, very easy on recoil. So there you go.
