Just saw it in a local gunshop flyer on sale for $899. Comes with a Knoxx Axium recoil reducing stock, 20" forged heavy free floating barrel, and a 4-16x Nikko Platinum Tactical scope.

Only 25 available, they say.

Is it worth it or does anyone have any experience with these rifles?

I owned one of those for about a 6 months, in 308.

First that is not a bad price with that scope combo. I had $900 in mine and it came with a cheap scope.... that got replaced rather quickly. as for the gun itself it was amazing, and HEAVY!!!!! dont even think about an off hand shot. as for accuracy and reliability I was getting about 3/4 inch 100meter shots. i was able to hit groundhogs out to 350, then it became my skill that limited the rifle. I was forced to sell the rifle after an atv accident that left alot of medical bills on the table... but if you have the means to purchase that rifle you are getting a GREAT deal... if you get it send a round down range for me...lol

I can't find any info on the Nikko 4-16x Platinum Tactical scope.

Oh well, I'm going to call and see if the 25 have been sold out yet by tomorrow in the Obamania that has swept our buying public.

the nikko sterlings won scope of the year , about 2 years ago, they are nice, very clear, and side AO, is very handy. the stock will cut that recoil down to 243 or even 223 recoil, and I mean, actually reducing that recoil, and not just felt recoil. The bbls on those are one fine chunk of steel, well made, and also accurate. I think it sounds like a good deal.

So... the bologna that I got from some others that HOWA is made in China and substandard is unfounded? Good to know. I almost bought another Howa 1500 package from Bass Pro too.

Howas are made in Japan. They also make the Weatherby Vanguard. Both the Howa (.308 win) and Weatherby (.30-06) I shot were near MOA rifles with me behind the trigger so I wouldn't consider them substandard.

Dunno about that stock on a rifle. I tried it on a Remington 870 shotgun and thought it would take some getting used to, but it did cut down on recoil. No idea about the scope.

Good to know... I am going to tell my bud who spoke ill of Howa he is full of it.

The Knoxx stock is almost $200 for the shotgun one and if the scope is even $150, then the gun is only $550... which is not bad for an accurate 308 by any means.

sweet rifle that drives tacks. Has the Tacticool bolt action look for thousands less. Scope needs to be canned. They pretty much threw the scope in for a freebee. Ive seen heavy barrel Howa's and Weatherby vanguards shoot one hole on more than several occasions. Once at a local training senario a guy with a .223 howa was constantly hitting targets better than a few of the guys with $2000 setups. They shoot awsome

Howa rifles have forged receivers, barrels, and bolts. I wouldn't consider that substandard. The design is similiar to the Remington M700 and you can even use M700 mounts on it if you wish.

I don't know if "substandard" is fair, but I have fiddled with a couple of Howas that needed a bit of fixing right out of the box. Neither fed correctly until they each received a few minutes of TLC. For the price neither owner was terribly upset.
