Howard Dean on Gun Control

So I'll ask again, where does President Bush stand on the assault weapon ban? He publicly says he will renew it, but wink-wink, nudge-nudge, he really won't? I guess he'll say anything to get re-elected too.

You got it. When I confronted the NRA reps. at a recent gunshow with this, they started yappin about how "the strategy" for Bush stating he is for the renewal is this and that and bla, bla, bla,.....I cut them off and told them that anybody with a good strategy does not broadcast it to the enemy as they have. I then told then what a bunch of big-time hypocrites they are and walked off.

Gun Owners of America simply does not embrace this hypocricy. Why is that?:fire:

Oh, and for what its worth; my in-laws who are hard core conservative Bush fans are now stomping their feet and screaming that we need to ban assault rifles because Bush has that view. Way to go, GOP!

I think Bush's stated position about the AWB is to keep all of the sucker moms behind him. There is very little chance that a new AWB will make it to his desk with the current congress and he knows it.
