For Christmas this year I got a Howells old west cartridge conversion for my 58 remmy and man this thing is nice. I ordered it from midway usa (great company and very friendly people) also with it I ordered a box of ultramax 250 grain rnfp ammo. Although it did shoot a little high ( probably me shivering in the 20 degree weather with it snowing) but I'm very happy with it. As far as shooting and burning clean I give it an A plus. The timing and lining up with the barrel is rite on. Although I do have a few questions 1. Since it is smokless I'm assuming it's not corrosive like the real black powder so I clean mine with hoppes #9 what do y'all use 2. Any of y'all ever use any other ammo than ultramax say like magtech, black hills, etc. and how do you like it 3. Also when I ordered it it said howells old west cartridge conversion but when the ups brought it it said taylors co. on the manual. So I was wandering was Howells made by taylors. Thought that was kinda weird since Howells took over R&D. Overall I like it and I'm happy. By the way hope you all had a great christmas and I wish you all a happy new year full of shooting.:)

I have 2 of these cylinders one fluted and one plain for 45LC.
It's been about 6 months since I last shot my remmie and haven't cleaned it at all yet. I inspect all my guns in my safe every few days, and so far I can't spot any fouling or rust on it.
I made my own reloads using 6gr of Trailboss.
Was pretty pleased with the way they fit right in without the need for any tweaking. The only thing that happened is that the front lever latch fell off, presumably because of the greater shock that the smokeless causes.

It is fortunate, in Spain cylinders of conversion to muzzle are banned as almost the entire....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

You have reason, but i think because in the US have access to other weapons:D
here the use of weapons this very restricted even for the police, one could not defend the home own....Spain is a paradise for criminals :mad:in this aspect we have to learn a lot of USA
