I bought a HR 929 a couple of weeks ago and with some research I found that the main spring was broken and ordered the steel replacement and fixed that. Tonight I was practicing manually releasing the hammer and doiong some dry firing with empty shells in the cylinder and clearly something broke. The hammer no longer pulls back in DA and will only drop in SA on occasion. I'm sure it is some kind of spring on a gun this old. Is there any chance that this is something I can repair myself or is a gunsmith required? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty handy around a gun... and I would get a gunsmith if it happened to me. There are staked pins to remove and reassembly is awful tricky. Even if you did identify the part, you're likely to do some more damage taking it apart and putting it back together. These guns aren't worth much, though, so you might-could take a stab at it.

I've been studying the schematics on Numrich and since no parts fell out of the gun I don't think anything actually broke. what it looks like is the straight spring on the swing out/ Pull pin lever has come out of it's hole. Using a flashlight I can look down past the hammer and see the hole that the spring is supposed to be in. I don't have any idea how to get it back in place.
