My Bro is a cop out in NY,he won't visit me cause he can't carry here in frisco,I won't visit him in NY cause I can't carry there, hell off duty, I can't carry here but I do cause it's not a felony.
I expect hr218 to pass before I see nationwide ccw reciprocity.
Did 1805 blow 218 out of the water? is it still viable? I would ask the NRA but it's 2300 hours here in the city by the bay

I hope it is dead.

A policy of "Rights for me but not for thee" is something I can't support.

Rick

Is there a possibility that if the cops get full reciprocity CCW holders could sue for "equal protection"?

Equal protection? Cop vs Serf? In Federal Court? Gunzzz?

It would get tossed out.

Rick

"Is there a possibility that if the cops get full reciprocity CCW holders could sue for "equal protection"?"

In your dreams.

"A policy of "Rights for me but not for thee" is something I can't support."

Succinct, Rick. Thanks.

Cops want full reciprocity? they ought to work it from the "Hey, we're all civilians" standpoint. Can't have it both ways.

...sigh....

All I did was ask a question:(
I agree a million percent with "no permit required"
I've sent alot of hard earned money to ,S.A.F,G.O.A,NRA I've given guns to friends who don't have one
I was curious about hr218, does anyone know?
I'm not asking for you to support it,just tell me whats going on with it.

I was curious about hr218, does anyone know?

That's a myopic way of looking at things. If cops were to get nationwide reciprocity first, would that not make reciprocity for everyone else easier to accomplish in the future.

If you look at all the inroads by gun grabbers, they were all done incrementally. Hey 10 day cooling off period, what can that hurt. Trigger lock with every gun, "it's for the children." We need to start off small and accomplish those objectives and continue to press forward. Making big goals and getting kicked in the nuts only gives you sore balls.

What's the status?

A simple google search on "HR 218" turned up the LEAA web page on the subject.

http://www.leaa.org/218/
The H.R. 218 Action Center

House : 290 co-sponsors (60%) STALLED IN COMMITTEE

Senate : 67 co-sponsors (67%) SENATE APPROVES S.253 IN 91-8 VOTE!

S. 253 Police Concealed Carry Bill Approved by Overwhelming Majority in Senate,
but S.1805 torpedoed by "poison pill" amendments
that have nothing to do with officer or community safety!

Thanks!

AZrickD,you once called me a "knucle dragging gunny":D
That was the best compliment I've gotten in years:cool:
Being a knuckle dragger,my google search did not go as well.
Y'see-most gun owners know a heck of alot more then I do!
thanks again!

"Knuckle-dragging gunnie"? Are you sure? I did a search and found nothing on that.

You said: "...hell off duty, I can't carry here..."

You are a full time, sworn CA peace officer (or honorably retired with CCW endorsement) and your agency's policy prohibits this? So, although you might be prosecuted for only a misdemeanor you risk being disciplined by your agency?

Before retiring I spent almost 26 years as a police officer in the East Bay, lived in SF all that time, and always carried everywhere within CA by statutory exemption. Same after I retired. Did the SF Supes create some ordinance which they believe transcends state law?

As a postscript, until the early part of this year when my currrent state of residence created a statutory definition of "retired police officer", I carried concealed here based on my CA retirement creds. Now, my OR CHL is on the way.

With regards to LEO reciprocity, the national peace officers organizations are working toward having the Senate bill resurrected as stand alone legislation. The stall in the House committee is due to its chairman who considers such a bill as infringement on a states' rights issue.
