Hey everyone;

I have a buddy who has started loading some 40 S&W range pick up brass. He has run into a problem seating primers with HRTRS brass. It is crushing the primers, almost like the pocket is too small..?

Any ideas? He is using Federal Small Pistol Match Primers. He is using an RCBS Hand Primer.

Herters brand brass = Crimped primer pockets.

He needs to ream or swage the primer pockets before he can reload them.

Thanks, I got the same response from another member on another forum and he said the same thing. I was not aware that 40s had crimped primer pockets.

It isn't that I don't trust you guys! I have used a lot of the information here to help with my shooting and reloading.

It just happens they had answered me first!

I appreciate the help though! Thank you gentlemen.

huh, thats odd. I ran across about a hundred pieces of hrtrs 380 and really liked it. smooth easy priming and they are probably the shiniest of all my 380 casings.

Not odd at all.

Herters .380 ACP cases are not Herters .40 S&W cases the OP ask about.
