I have a Remington 700 ADL. I bought the Pro Series Sporter stock. When I drop my barrel in the stock and tighten it down, the bolt will not close. It appears that the main screw is traveling so far into the stock that it is protruding into the chamber.

I am using the shorter screw in the front like I should. And, I am using a torque wrench to set it at 65 inlbs.

Any suggestions?

lol - Funny... but true. New stock is inletted slightly deeper and the screw is probably a little on the long side to begin with.

Before you grind it down, screw a nut down on it because you're going to need it to chase the threads when it's done. If you don't you wont be able to screw it back into the gun.

There is a mark on my bolt. I didn't force it hard when I tried to close the bolt. Do you think I did any damage?

no.

and before grinding, be sure the screw is the problem by trying to close the bolt with no action screws in place.
