I picked up a Hungarian M95 carbine in 8x56r recently. Got on trade and dude threw in 200 extra. Which ended up costing me 218 to get brass, mold, gas checks, dies., bullet sizing die, and en bloc. Gun was rough, did complete disassembly, cleaning and a little polishing. Pretty slick how bolt works for straight pull. Broke cardinal rule for old military gun; re-stained stock because tip by stacking lug was broken and ductapped to hold so needed glue and what not. Load data about impossible to get a consensues on. Ended up with 215 (a little heavier than I wanted) cast boolits with gas checks and 21 grn of 5744. I use in Gerwer 88 for light plinkers. Supposed to be good for this type of ammo, low pressure supposedly. Anyone use 5744 for these? Powder supply limited where I'm at. 748 and 4227 are the only other rifle powders I have and 5744 was only one that seemed close. Did see someone use 20grns of 5744 for 210`s. Any advice appreciated. Hoping to test the 5 I did this weekend. Snow should be clear. Seems like a cool gun. Wanted a schmidt-ruben straight pool but this will do.
