I was a Hunter's Ed instructor in IA when I lived there, but now I'm thinking about signing up to do it in IL. I'm trying to contact the DNR, but we keep playing phone tag.

My question:

As an IA instructor, do I have to retrain in IL, or is training as an instructor universally recognized, just as training as a student is?

Thanks.

Eastwood,

I don't live in IL, so this is only a guess and you'll her better input from IL hunters....but my guess is that the weird gun laws in Il might require some type of refresher at mimimum...hope I'm wrong.

Eastwood,
I've taught in four states now and the last three just required a supervised class to evaluate me. No problems, just read up on the laws of the state your teaching in, the course is pretty much the same everywhere. This does not mean that IL will do as AZ, NC and GA have done but the chances are good.

I'm a Illinois Hunter Ed instructor. You have a PM and E-mail inbound with direct contact info for the VSC for Northern Illinois and myself, if I can help out/answer any questions.
