"Hunter shoots Grizzly Bear in North Idaho"

Weird stuff going on, on the Federal level with game management. They are the ones that pushed the wolf re-introduction through, along with some suspicious help from other suspicious people/organizations. All in spite of the fighting and shouting!!!!

All the management practices are just trying to delay the inevitable collapse of actual habitat for wildlife. Not once has a suburb been converted back into wilderness. Wilderness and the life inside is going away. The only question is how quickly.

I’ll agree that we are losing some habitat to urban sprawl. Especially in and around major cities, but when you fly over this country at night as I often do there is a whole lot more open country than there is inhabited country overall. Much more by a massive percentage. And a lot of that open country is on federal public lands that isn’t going to be developed in the foreseeable future.

Heck even places like China with massive populations have a ton more open county than developed country. It’s easy to think “all” of the habitat is being destroyed when you live in an area where it’s happening.

You've got a lot more faith than I do in our government keeping promises. I think we are just a few lobbyists and a PR firm away from divesting almost any federal land to a private corporation.

While there is a large amount of undeveloped land in existence, it is still less each year.

In fact, much of the Midwest may appear undeveloped while flying over - especially at night - but those are developed agriculture. Bears can't live off the land in a soybean field.

I'm not trying to go all Greta, but the reality is that as we adapt the world to our needs there is less available for other things. Is that good or bad? Doesn't matter because it just is part of how this world will continue to work until something really cataclysmic disrupts our growth and expansion.
