Hunting/Fishing with an Atlatl

Missouri legalized the atlatl for small game hunting and fishing( during gigging season) in MO. Does anyone have experience with hunting/fishing with an atlatl.

about the only thing I ever bagged with one is a plastic milk jug. Wasted that sucker, though.

I might be able to hit a VW with one.

I think it would be hard enough to hit game by just throwing the spear itself. Seems like an art that needs to be learned as a youngster. How would you sling a javelin at fish, would you sidearm it somehow?

I made one when I was a kid. You'd be surprised how much force can be projected with one of those suckers! Never hunted anything that could move under it's own power, though.

It's like throwing a football, or spinning a top, really. The concept is very similar.

No but it sounds like something I'd try. I've been using the blowgun for all sorts of stuff for about 10years now.
