Plural of Idgit.

So Sat morning I'm in a sweet hunting spot on public lands, already seen one deer; looking great. Wind in face (slight wind), cold, just good conditions.

About 8:30 - Not 11:30, 10:30, or even 9:30, but 8:30 in the morning, more or less still prime time (toward the end, but...), I hear what sounds like men talking loudly several hundred yards away (nah, couldn't be) - sure enough, these 3 geniuses walk right along down this bottom area, right up to me, loudly talking the whole way. When I see them and they see me (lots of orange all around, and I wasn't hidden, but right in their line of sight), maybe 75 yards off, I think "okay, surely they'll back out now" (not that it would have helped at that point as much noise as they were making), but no, they continue walking right up to me, and right past me, and have the nerve to ask me if I'd seen any; then one of them apologizes for walking right up on me (then why'd you do it?); then they walk right on to the area where the first deer came from (the area I had correctly surmised would be the direction they'd come from at that spot and that time). Why are you walking around at a fast pace talking at 8:30 in the dad blamed morning on opening day of deer gun season!? And they weren't going home, because they were walking toward where I was parked, and there were no other cars there within a mile or so. So evidently this was their *method* of hunting. Arrrrgggghhhh!

ahhh yes....the vaunted idgii tribesmen! i too have had my fair share of encounters with this formerly rare species. as with most specimens it seems that they appear as if from nowhere when the time is most inopportune. their gall and tenacity often boggles the mind, and questions about the very possibility of their survival based upon sheer lack of intellect and common sense baffles even the sharpest scholars.

what is to be done? noone knows. strange breeding practices and the possible intermingling of familial chromosomes must somehow lend itself to perpetual longevity coupled with superb and confounding stupidity. xyy's are a...shall we say....xx canine.

pray for us all.... ;)

sorry you had to experience it!

Reminds me of the time I was riding my snowgo to the next village over, when I met up with a teen whos engine was giving him problems. No VHF, no gun, no travle kit or tools...... Told him Id drive slow, and see him to the next village, even if I had to tow him.... and off we went.
A look along the mountain, up a tree line, I spied two Wolves, pulled aside, unhitched my sled, told the kid Id be back, and off I sped.
Shot the first guy about a mile on, a brain removing back of the head shot, and persued his partner for another three before I had a shot and scored.
Drove back and there was another set of snowgo tracks and my first Wolf was gone. Sped on down the trail and there was the kid, going as fast as he could(on one cylender) , untill I pulled up and asked what the heck was up......."I found this, its mine" in a tough sorta tone, was his claim to the Wolf.
"Bull $#!t" was my answer as I untied it from his sled. No resistance to that on his part, and no more help for him on my part, I just proceeded as before I met 'em.

You never know who your gonna meet hunting.

I've sometimes had a chance to use idiots like that as beaters. I'd spot them, and circle way out in front several hundred yards, maybe a half-mile. I've nailed a couple of nice bucks that they spooked out which then ran past me--focussed on the apparent danger to the rear.

Big mistake.

I think I hunt with those guys. Seriously, a couple of the guys who hunt with me can't whisper to save their lives. And don't even begin to expect them to walk in any manner of quiet. They apparently just can't do it. To top it all off, they still wonder why in the world they haven't ever filled a tag, but I end up with an elk almost every year.

Yep, too many so called "hunters" violate the second rule of hunting: Do not disturb other hunters. A lot of people these days have no respect for other folks space.

In case it hasn't dawned you yet, they aren't REALLY hunters. They are Antis.... and they know exactly what they are doing. And there isn't much you can do about it. Although they do get real excited if you wait by their cars and take photos of them and their car tags!!!! They were a real problem in CT.

Darn, I'm slow on the uptake today. Antis are not a big problem here in OK. Over 90 percent of OK is private property. Here we do something about it: We have them arrested for trespassing. If their vehicles are on private property they get towed by Bubba the Mangler. :D

I can’t stand idiots like that!!! You know, you take hunting semi seriously (for me very), you get out there early, get positioned, get mentally prepared, and idiots that couldn’t stock a cow come out at might as well be yelling. Dar dar dar is all I hear. I feel your pain and have unfortunately been in the same position. That’s why I like going to 9000ft and dropping off into the canyons. Those guys aren’t willing to put out the physical effort to go there…simple.

Use to fish with an idiot like that. Stomp his feet in the boat, talk loud, cross lines, throw trash around, B-tch- b-tch, b-tch...... We don't fish together anymore.

During hunting season here, we had an interesting experience with the Idgii too.

I'm out back of our place putting up firewood for the winter and it's about 2 in the afternoon, when I hear these 4 wheelers coming down the trail. Then they swing into our road and pull up beside our place as I turn the corner to see who it is. There are 3 toy collectors, one of whom is sighting his rifle with scope right at my woodshed, and about 3 feet from my head which I ask him to stop before I get concerned for my health.

So I ask, what they're doing on my property. Apparently they'd come up from Minnesota or something (I wasn't really paying attention) and hunting.

Oh really? I ask and where are they hunting, they'd heard there were some big moose out here (and there are 3 60"+ bucks I've seen and at least 5 cows). That's real nice say I and where are they going? Oh about 400 yards further in, so they won't disturb me. I explain that I own that too in fact they need to move in a direct line about 3/4 of a mile through the bush to get off my land in that direction, and that there's a big honking sign on my driveway saying No (in bright red) hunting, trapping, logging, trespass, dumping, search without warrant etc. etc. without written permission of me, or unless it's for medical purposes in the interests of saving of any guest, my wife or myself and would they please leave.

They protested, I advised that they go have intimate relations with themselves, and also told them that the guys who owned the other lots also didn't want hunters on their property either. They were butting all over the place about how they had a license and a tag, and it was their right (not on my land it isn't and not when you presume you can) if they'd asked first we could come to some arrangement, like I take half the meat and they can take the rest and trophy, anyway apparently they got run off quite a few places that day, some of the locals aren't quite as pleasant as I was either.

What makes me scratch my head though is what were they doing at some random place in the Bush at 2 in the afternoon looking for Moose, although since they had a cooler I expect they'd be having a few brewski's before trying not to shoot themselves.

My wife was hiding in the house, she couldn't come outside for laughing, she did stop when I told her about the idiot pointing his gun near my head though.

In most states there are laws that prevent anti-hunters from disturbing a hunt or spooking game to thwart hunters. I would not be surprised if this were just a group of anti-hunters with a new method of working over hunters without getting ticketed by DNR.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. Lone guy comes walking up from a valley and continues walking toward me in the open field. Finally gets to me and says "You got a real good spot". Then continues on his way.
