I just moved to Lincoln IL and i was wonder if anyone reading this would be kind and give me some information on hunting and fishing. If any of you have a yahoo account then you can e-mail me at [email protected]. if not then you can email me a private message. thank all that posts.

You're a bit farther north than what most of us call Southern Illinois but you might check out Southern Illinois Outdoors.com at www.siloutdoors.com

We are a pretty fun bunch, I think there are a few people from up in your neck of the woods but you can find out alot of information there. By the way I am a sponsor of that site and I am birdhunter1 over there too!

rmm, where did you move to Lincoln from? If you came from out of state, be notified that (unless it has changed since I left in 98) IL is shotgun only. That could be Peoria County only, but I thought it applied to the whole state. The DNR site above is the end all source for hunting info though.

I lived here when i was young, so i know about the shotgun rules and the FOID card. I moved from wisconsin and montana. I have hunted down in Johnson County for deer (I got a 7 pointer).

Some of the best deer hunting in the country is just west of you in Pike, Calhoun, and Green counties, plus the areas around them. Jim Edgar State Park is a great place to start for other types of hunting (though it's near impossible to draw a deer tag for there). It's great for fishing, too.

The DNR website link you got earlier in this thread should be very helpful, be sure to look up the public hunting and fishing index in there. There's also a document that shows all of the IL state parks, what hunting is allowed there, how many acres available, etc. It's one of their more informative documents.

Hope this helps -- good luck!
