Hey guys, its my sons birthday and he wants me to take him squirrel hunting this weekend..do any of you know of any public land close to gwinnett, where I can take him this weekend..I would appreciate the help...

not realy sure if this is gonna help but no one has posted and I want you to be able to spend some quality hunting time with your son. I havent lived in georgia for ten years but here is what i know. Pretty much wherever you go on public land in ga is gonna be loaded with critters. Im not sure where gwinnett is but if its anywhere near canton (in cherokee county) your in luck. I know of possible private land u can hunt. If you call up a mr. harold payne, he also owns paynes floor covering in canton and nicely ask if you can take your boy hunting on some of his land he MIGHT say yes. cant promise though. He owns alot of land. like i said i cant promise anything but just wanted to help. His son might also be able to help you

Any gun store oughta have a copy of the Georgia Game Dept's handbook. It shows public hunting areas, and gives all the requirements for licensing and seasons and such. Worth the read.

You can go up to gainesville. Chattahoochie WMA. It is off of Browning Bridge Road, which is off of Clarkesbridge Road, which is off of Limestone PKWY.

Directions:

85N to 985N to exit 24. Turn left, go under RR overpass. Turn right at 2nd light, which is Limestone PKWY. Go about 2 miles to Clarkes Bridge Road. Turn right onto Clarkes Bridge. Go out about 5-7 miles, turn right on Browning Bridge Road. The WMA is on the left.

Disclaimer: They were talking about making it into a park and shutting down the WMA. I have not been in two years, so it may be shut down now.
