I grew up in SW La. and trapped nutria for spending money as a kid.
I was in Longview WA this last Christmas and saw nutria in the ponds along the Columbia. It surprised me some. Now I know why they were there. Some a***ole released them there. They don't do anything but create problems and destroy the habitat that they overrun.

I live in Beaverton and there are several local ponds and such with tons of these things. However as previously mentioned I dont think it would be appreciated if I took them out with my .40S&w or even the .22lr

If they cause anywhere near as much ecological damage up there as they do down here, someone would have to be intellectually deficient to have a problem with their culling :D

After the start of ww2, Kaiser shipyards brought in alarge qty. of possums for a new food source. I don't know if he brought in the Nutria.

Beaverton is a suburb of Portland Oregon.

Looked up nutria on Google, hit a MD dept of conserv. site. They have them too. They estimate 20-30 million in LA. Who knew!

They also talk about the damage they do to salt water and shore vegetation resulting in a hurt on creatures that rely upon it like crabs, etc.
