What A Great Range Trip!

Just got back in from the range.
What a great morning!
My wife decided she wanted to go with me, which is rare, so we took an extra 20 minutes to get her little 25 stuff ready and away we sent.
During the pistol session, she decided she wanted to shoot my little Kimber 3" ultra carry II .45. It is now lost. She adopted it for her own. I'm glad, the 25 just was not big enough, but it took her awhile to decide that for herself, so all is good!

The main event - the .270 Hornady SST-H4350-Fed case test loads.
Wish I had loaded a hundred of them. These are a real pleasure to shoot!
I can't wait until November when I can use these on a deer!
The bottom 6 and left 3 are me adjusting the scope. What is on the target is all 20 test rounds.

Great group from a hunting rifle. Great load. I am impressed. I am using a very similar load for accuracy I am using the 140 gr Hornady Interbond with 53.5 gr IMR 4350 loaded to an OAL of 3.340.

I will have to try out your load. Thank you for the information.

Wow. That is fantastic and superb. Absolutely excellent. You gotta be proud.
I mean the wife with a 45. Congrats to Mrs. Griz. She's gonna be safer with the Kimber. She's a keeper.

Wow. Excellent group. I am impressed with those SST bullets. IMR 4350 does well in my 700, but IMR 4064 does better. This makes me want to get a box of those Hornadys today and try it before opening day.

Dang, Griz. Every time I read a thread about deer loads I get antsy. I gotta get out and shoot at something.

Back when I was loading for my 270 I found that both types of 4350 worked very well with a slight preference to the IMR ~53.5 grs.

Very nice 20 round group Griz, with all things taken into account like; hunting bullets used, adjusting scope, sporter barrel?.
Did you allow for barrel cool down or just shot them all in a string?

Just done a quick scale comparitive, once you take away a couple of fliers and some for scope adjustment, the majority of your group appear to be around 1/2" to 3/4".

That's one darn nice deer load.

After the first 5, I gave it 60 sec or so between shots. I was VERY happy with the results. The barrel is a stock 26", the gun completely stock except for a little bit of polishing I did on the trigger to smooth it up a touch. This was all brand new brass, so the second set should be even better since it is now fire formed and should fit the chamber perfectly. Case prep for load 2 will be clean, neck size only, and trim to length.

Except for the synthetic stock, scope and powder, I have the exact same ADL, 130gr SST's and same calculated COL = 3.402. Now if only I can shoot the same 20 shot group..

Did you try anything other than H4350? Like H4831?

My 700 (not ADL) can fit about a 3 3/4" round in it. I know it will not chamber one that long though. My hunting loads (for now) are;

Nosler Ballistic Silver tip 130 grain.
47 grain of H380.
CCI Mag primer.
COL 3.313" .

I'm also playing with other powders. H414, H4831SC, and the new V100.
