hello all,

I live up in Alaska and have just put together a 458 socom and am looking to hunt/hike with it up here. I have used 2 point slings in the past but have an idea of what i want this future sling of mine to do.

Ideally i want it to...

be comfortable for extended alpine/brush hunting

able to be tight to my chest for hands free walking and quickly be able to transition for shooting from the shoulder.

be decent quality abd able to handle the moist environment of SE Alaska.

Do you have any recommendations? So far I have found this and it might be what im looking for but would love to hear from you.

Viking Tactics VTAC Wide Padded Sling

I have the padded VTAC on my AR, and love it. They recently came out with one that has a detachable cuff you might want to look into, if you would like to be able to sling up

Have you been on or seen the ...Alaska Outdoors site?

Your fellow hunters in Alaska may have some good advice about slings. J s/n.

I would get a padded VCAS. The padding makes it comfortable for extended carry. VCAS is basically a slightly improved VTAC that doesn't leave a trailing strap on the front end when it is adjusted in tight. You don't want anything hanging off you that can get tangled in brush.
